勝田滋樹です。 カリフォルニアの 「ル・モンラッシェ！？」と言われている、シャルドネ・マウント・ハーラン2006（\5,000→\4,000）を久々に飲みました。ホームランです！美味すぎました！予想外の美味さで、デジカメの準備をいたしておりませんでした。あっという間に1本飲みましたので、翌日ワインの液体のない画像になりました・・・。 |

カレラ シャルドネ
カレラというとピノノワールでしたが、シャルドネも評価が高く、果実味の豊かさとミネラル感とタルが一体となってバランスの良いワイン。2000年のシャルドネは熟成感が出始めていてリッチというよりもエレガントになってきている。このような味わいのため、いがいとフランス料理にもあう。もちろん、和食にも評判の良いワインです。

Mt. Harlan Ｃｈａｒｄｏｎｎａｙ
The 6.1 acre Mt. Harlan Chardonnay Vineyard was planted
in 1984 on the same south facing slope as the Mills Vineyard
Pinot Noir. This vineyard was planted on its own roots
using plant material from stray chardonnay vines that
were found interspersed among the pinot vines of the original
vineyards. Each year this vineyard yields only slightly
more than 2 tons to the acre of very intense flavorful
chardonnay fruit. The wines produced from Calera’s Mt.
Harlan Chardonnay Vineyard display a minerality that is
much more typical to fine white Burgundy than to California
chardonnay. A lemon scented aroma with abundant varietal
character and hints of smoky oak are characteristic of
this vineyard. On the palate, a round, creamy texture
and ripe citrus flavors are underscored by the minerality
that arises from growing chardonnay on limestone soil.

カレラ ヴィオニエ
ジェンセンはCHグリエで働いていたこともあり、ヴィオニエに大変興味があり、1983年にヴィオニエを植えた。
ヴィオニエの生産者としてはカリフォルニアでは先駆けであった。
パーカーの評価もピノノワールよりよりもヴィオニエのほうが高かった。
非常にかおり豊かなヴィオニエで味わいもライチのようなエキゾチックな風味である。
中華料理、てんぷらなどに合う。

Mt. Harlan Ｖｉｏｇｎｉｅｒ
Calera’s original 2.2 acres of viognier, planted in 1983, were some of the first planted in California. Viognier budwood for this vineyard came from the Geneva Experimental Research Station in New York. Planted on a south-facing limestone slope, it took several years for the vines to become established and productive. An additional 2.9 acres of viognier were planted in 1989 alongside the original vineyard.
Calera’s Mt. Harlan Viognier Vineyard produces benchmark wines. Very low yields of 1.87 tons of fruit per acre make for concentrated, large scale wines. They are serious, and full-bodied, with intense, luscious honeysuckle and apricot fruit as well as an underlying mineral flavor.
